My fascination for the footmarks is that they are very much like the cycle of life & death. We walk and make our own way through life leaving our mark behind. Some more notorious than others, however each mark is absolutely authentic and individualistic but none are eternal. As Michael Cliff said, it is as though "Our lives are written in disappearing ink."
But if you delve deeper, we realize that this is how history was made. There were marks made by so many millions of people and so many marks made on top of theirs, and although some do disappear or get covered up, some of them transcend. We still honor people who left their mark many many years ago.
